Common questions
How do I connect my bank account?
Open Shelter and tap the Accounts tab, then tap “Link Account.” You'll be guided through Plaid's secure connection flow. Shelter connects in read-only mode and never sees your bank login credentials.
Why is my bank not showing updated transactions?
Shelter syncs your transactions automatically throughout the day. Some banks may have a delay of up to 24 hours before new transactions appear. If your data seems stale, try pulling down to refresh on the Transactions screen or unlinking and re-linking the account.
How do I cancel my subscription?
You can cancel anytime. If you subscribed through the iOS App Store, go to Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → Shelter. If you subscribed through our website, go to Settings → Subscription in the app. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.
How do I delete my account?
You can delete your account from Settings → Account → Delete Account in the app, or visit our account deletion page. All your data will be permanently removed within 30 days.
Is my financial data safe?
Yes. Shelter connects to your bank through Plaid, the same service used by Venmo and thousands of other financial apps. We use read-only access, encrypt all data in transit and at rest, and never store your bank credentials. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
How accurate are the cash flow predictions?
Shelter's predictions are based on your actual transaction history, detected income patterns, and recurring bills. They improve over time as more data is available. Predictions are estimates and should not be treated as guaranteed outcomes.
